Instructions for Using ComputerTrain

ComputerTrain is an online training system. It has many online training modules, called self-paced courses, covering office productivity applications. ComputerTrain is also a registration system for classroom training workshops. You can attend the online training at your convenience, or you can attend the classroom workshops for a more personal detailed training experience.

ComputerTrain has a "My Training" page that reports all of your training progress in one place. The "My Training" page enables you to resume online courses that you left incomplete, to see the online courses that you have completed, to see classroom workshops in which you have enrolled, and to see classroom workshops in which you have completed.

Accessing ComputerTrain

Each currently enrolled student at Kennesaw State University has use of the ComputerTrain system. To access ComputerTrain, open a web browser and point it to http://computertrain.kennesaw.edu. Login to the ComputerTrain system with your NetID.

Orientation

It is highly recommended that you take the orientation course inside the ComputerTrain system. On the "Welcome" page, you will see a link to the "Site Orientation Course" on the right side of the page in the "Online Training" section.

Registering for the Free ITS Student Classroom Workshops

To register for a classroom workshop:

  1. Login to the ComputerTrain system
  2. Go to the Catalog on the main menu
  3. Click on "ITS Computer Workshops"
  4. Click on the category of course for which you are looking
  5. Click on the course for which you wish to enroll
  6. Read the "Overview" for your desired course
  7. Click on the "Upcoming Sessions" tab
  8. Click on the "Enroll" button to register for your desired workshop session.

Attending Online Self-Paced Courses

To attend an online course:

  1. Login to the ComputerTrain system
  2. Go to the "Catalog" on the main menu
  3. Click on the category of course for which you wish to attend; for example "Office Productivity" and then "Spreadsheets".
  4. Choose the course in which you wish to attend; for example: "Microsoft Office 2003 Excel Level 1" in the "Microsoft Office Excel 2003" series.
  5. Read the course description and content
  6. Click on the "Begin Course" link on the right side of the "Overview" tab

Monitoring Your Progress

To monitor your progress and resume an incomplete course:

  1. Click on "My Content" and then "My Training" on the main menu
  2. You can view your completed courses, or resume incomplete courses here. You can also view your transcript by clicking on the "Transcript" link.
