Archiving removes mail from the GroupWise server and stores them on the hard drive of your machine, freeing up valuable space in your mailbox. The archived messages are viewed via the GroupWise client from your machine. Printable verison for this document can be found here.
To archive an item in your Mailbox or other folder, do the following:
- Click on the item(s) that you want to archive so that they are highlighted. Note - Holding the Shift key and clicking the first and last item in a consecutive list will highlight everything in between. Holding the Ctrl button and clicking various items will highlight a non-consecutive list.
- Click Actions > Archive
To see archived items, do the following:
- Click File > Open Archive.
- Your screen will look like your standard GroupWise screen.
- To open an item, double-click on it.
- You cannot resend or track an item that is archived.
- Items can be moved from one folder to another in the usual way.
To un-archive an item, perform the following steps:
- Select the item
- Click Actions > Archive (this "un-checks" the archive property).
- The item is then sent back to the folder from which it came.
To close the archive and return to the normal view, perform the following step:
- Click File > Open Archive (this "UN-checks" the archive directory).
Special Notes:
WEB
You will NOT be able to see archived items from Web Access, but they will be easily available from your desktop when GroupWise is open.
PROXY ACCESS
Proxy Access will not allow you to view another person’s archive.
SHARED FOLDERS
Items archived from a Shared Folder will no longer be viewable by others who share that folder.
