Information Technology Administration and Project Management (ITAP)

ITAP provides reporting, project management, change management and documentation management services to Information Technology Services at Kennesaw State University.

Reporting Services

Amber Krug, Assistant Director of ITAP provides reporting services to higher management. These reports include all sections of ITS, such as ITIM, Networking, Client/Server, ISO, Service desk, and Telecommunications.

Project Management

ITAP's project management division is responsible for managing Client/Server projects, Networking projects, ITIM installation and move projects, Telecommunication projects, and change and documentation project. ITAP uses Microsoft Enterprise Project Server to keep track of all projects. The project management division provides documentation, guidance, and metrics of the practice of project management to ITS.
The function of project management division as follows:

  • To provide visibility to the many tasks needed to execute the project
  • To communicate the status of projects and tasks to higher management and stakeholders in clear and consistent manner
  • To work closely with the Project Sponsor to make sure the project is delivered as close to the forecasted time, budget & scope as possible

Change Management

ITAP's change management division is charged with development and implementation of a formal change management program. The mission of Change management program is as follows:

  • To ensure the documentation of all proposed changes prior to installation in the production environment
  • To ensure verification of technical completeness
  • Accuracy of technical impact and analysis
  • Plans for final test, install, rollback, and recovery
  • Identification and reviews of all technical dependencies including effect on concurrent changes
  • To ensure timing of change executions does not conflict with academic and administrative priorities
  • To ensure appropriate management involvement and approval, which includes required sign-offs, approval, deferral, or disapproval of changes
  • To ensure the verification of successful testing to the degree required by organization standards before introducing the change to the production environment
  • To ensure documentation of actual change installations and change rollbacks to enable communication of change results, provide history of changes, and support maintenance of systems documentation

Documentation Management

ITAP's documentation management division will provide services to manage all types of documents, which support the organizational management process. This program is still in the process of development. The major objective of this program is to provide ITS with a centralized digital repository for its internal procedures. The documentation management program will provide role management service, authentic copies generation service, and interoperability service.
