Publishing Procedures for Students

Web publishing is yet another service offered from your Student account. Activation of your NetID account will allow the ability to upload files (web pages) to the server. The next step is to develop your page, then publish the page(s) to your “HTML” directory in your home account. Uploading instructions can be found here.

Please note that anything published in your “HTML” directory will be searchable and viewable to everyone on the internet. Please carefully and thoughtfully consider the content of your web pages. Pages must be contained in each user’s home directory, and comply and conform to the
Kennesaw State University's Telecommunications Policies and WWW Guidelines.

If you would like to try the more technical side of web page creation, KSU can provide space in the CGI Bin for you to place your scripts. Find out more on how to get space in the CGI Bin and how to write scripts.

Disk Space

It is important to note that you have 25MB of disk space on your account. The number of saved messages, files you download, and web pages you have published take up this space. When creating your web pages, remember that photographs are space hogs and will eat up your Student Server quota rather quickly.

Detailed instructions on publishing your website using SSH can be found here. Alternatively, you may also view a flash video which shows how to publish files to student account using SSH FTP
