There are a number of ways that you can Telnet to KSUWeb or Atlas. These include, but are not limited to: Through the ITS Dep; and Through your Internet Service Provider (PPP account) if you have one (ie. Mindspring, etc.)
You will find the appropriate steps below to get you to the KSUWeb or Atlas machines; it doesn't matter which route you take.
Through ITS
To get to KSUWeb or Atlas through ITS, you must either have Internet Explorer or Netscape.
- Go into Internet Explorer or Netscape.
- When Internet Explorer or Netscape comes up and is finished loading, use your mouse to click on the area where you see an URL (Internet address), click on that area, and type in the following address to go to:
telnet://ksuweb.kennesaw.edu
or
telnet://Atlas.kennesaw.edu/
Once you have typed in the address, press the "enter" key, the KSUWeb or Atlas login screen should come up on your screen at this point.
- If your system is set up correctly, you will be on the system and it will ask you for your login name and password.
Through an Internet Service Provider
If you happen to have Internet access from home through an Internet Service Provider (ie. Mindspring, MCI, etc.), then you can use your Internet access account (from home) to get to your KSUWeb or Atlas account. All you need to do is go to the telnet utility that your ISP provided you (within your software) and start up that utility.
*NOTE: There are many Telnet packages, so we must be generic with these steps.
At this point, all you need to do is open up a Telnet session with KSUWeb or Atlas. Different utilities require different things, however, what you will need to know is the machine name, which is KSUWeb.kennesaw.edu or Atlas.kennesaw.edu. This tells the utility to Telnet to the machine and it will connect to KSUWeb or Atlas respectively - if everything is set up correctly.
